Would it be OK for me to send a car seat via a courier?

How much would it cost to send a baby seat by a courier?

We can only give an indication of some generic sizes; yours are most certainly going to be different. However, a parcel containing a child seat that is 8kg in weight and 60cm x 90cm x 60cm would cost £29.99 + VAT for a ParcelForce 48 service within the UK. It is really easy to get a price for your car seat, just package it up ready to ship to your eBay or Gumtree customer, then weigh it and measure it and put those details into the quote engine.

Packaging Guidelines for car seats:

Often the hardest part of sending products via a courier or parcel delivery company is knowing what the weight of your item is. You may have a printed guide that comes with your child safety seat so check that first. Alternatively, if you have purchased it from Amazon, you can sometimes find the details on their website. Most seem to be in the 5kg to 6kg so you could use that as a guide for when you're searching.

Bulky boxes that the items are delivered in are often thrown away, and with baby seats being as big and bulky as they are this is often the case so you may need to get hold of a large box to package the seat in. Better still if you do have the box, use that and pad it out with as much packaging as you can to ensure your parcel child seat is delivered in perfect condition.

If this is the case, and you are shipping out of the EU, you might have customs forms to print out and attach as well as the shipping label.

What about if I have a car part to send on a pallet?
