Obviously, start by stripping everything from it and removing it from the bed frame. Then you could move it to a room where you have the space to wrap it without worrying about knocking things over - this could be your hallway. To protect your mattress from sharp edges, for both getting it into the lorry and removing it into the destination address, we suggest that you first wrap it in bed sheets. You should then wrap it in waterproof protection, as you just don't know what the weather will be like on either the day of collection or delivery. You could use a series of thick bin bags opened up, or you could use any form of thick plastic sheeting.
