How to post a phone

Sending a phone in the post or via a courier is a simple process for UK deliveries. With adequate packaging, you can send a variety of makes and models and our price comparison service will help you find the best way to send your phone for the lowest cost. 

Top Tips for Posting a Phone in the UK

1. Packaging – please ensure your mobile phone is adequately packed to travel through a courier network. Take the time to read our packaging advice. If the phone is not in its original packaging, it’s advisable to wrap the charger and any accessories separately with bubble wrap before you put them inside the box with the phone.  
2. Shake test - once you've packaged your phone, shake the box to make sure nothing moves inside.  The phone and any accessories should be packed tightly so it can't move around in transit.
3. Compare prices - enter the weight and dimensions of your packaged item into our courier quote form to find the best courier prices. 
4. Choose an express service – with fragile items, we always recommend choosing an express delivery service, such as next day delivery. This reduces handling and transit time.
5. Book a parcel drop-off service – parcel drop-off services give you the flexibility to drop off your parcel at a time that’s convenient for you and they’re generally cheaper than a courier collection.
6. Protection cover – most of our UK next day delivery services include £20 loss/damage cover, with the option to extend as necessary. For mobile phones up to the value of £250, please consider adding additional protection cover.
    

   Please note we have a £250 compensation limit on mobile phones and cannot offer protection cover for any phone valued over this. Mobile phones over the value of £250 will be carried, but on a no-compensation basis, as stated in our prohibited and restricted items list.

The cost of sending a mobile phone varies depending on the size and weight of your package and the service you choose, but you can send a mobile phone for as little as £5.99 + VAT by booking DPD PickUp through our courier quote form.

Sending mobile phones abroad

Sending a mobile phone overseas is more complicated than posting a phone in the UK, as batteries are prohibited from most air services and that includes batteries inside mobile phones.

To send a mobile phone abroad with Parcel Monkey, please choose one of our DHL services, as DHL will send mobile phones overseas, as long as the battery is inside the device.  DHL Air Express goes to over 240 destinations worldwide, but ensure you check the destination country for any restrictions regarding mobile phones.

Please note that international packages undergo regular scans and checks. If you choose a carrier that prohibits the transport of mobile phones, it is likely to be returned and you may incur a charge.
