Chocolate is a popular and versatile gift. A box of luxury truffles can make a great birthday or Christmas present, but equally, buying someone their favourite chocolate bar (just so they know you’re thinking of them) is also a touching gesture. However, chocolate is not a good gift to send in the post.
The melting point for most types of chocolate is 30-32 degrees (lower than body temperature), this means there is a strong chance that if you attempt to post chocolate abroad or even within the UK, it will not arrive in the condition you sent it — and no one wants to receive a melted box of chocolates!

It is not a good idea to ship chocolate to Australia from the UK, due to the long transit time and high temperatures it is likely to be subjected to. If you want to send a chocolate gift to someone in Australia, it is far more sensible to order it online from a company based in Australia.
Try Gifts 2 the Door. This is a family-owned Australia-based company, offering a selection of hampers and gifts that can be delivered to any Australian state. They even offer an English chocolate box selection, which contains classics such as Cadbury’s Dairy Milk and Yorkie.
If you want to post chocolate abroad to any destination, including America, it is not advisable to send it via a standard courier or postal service. There are companies who specialise in sending food items abroad and they will be better placed to ship chocolate.
Try British Corner Shop, an online grocery store for British expats around the world. If you have a family member in America who’s missing the British taste of Cadbury’s (it’s made with a different recipe in the US) then this could be the answer you’re looking for.
Unfortunately, we are not permitted to ship chocolate. Chocolate, along with any other perishable food product, is listed on our restricted and prohibited items list, which means our courier partners have stated it can not be carried under any circumstances.
Before you send any item, we strongly suggest you check the restricted item list first. This will avoid any disappointment if your item is not suitable to travel via a standard courier or postal service.
