How to transport a fridge via courier

Transport a small fridge

Transport a large fridge

A freestanding fridge, such as the Indesit CAA 55 measures approximately 62cm x 59cm x 180cm and weights 58kg and would cost more due to the dimensions of it with Tuffnells or DX Freight - but if it is in your local area getting it from A to B via City Sprint, selecting a large van would be the best value for money. 

Do you have any tips?

1. You will need to prepare your fridge, even if you aren't selling it and you are moving house it will need to be emptied and cleaned before being transported. 
2. Remove the shelves and draws so they don't rattle around inside whilst the fridge is being moved and send them safely packaged in a separate box
3. Ensure the plug is attached securely to the fridge somewhere so it doesn't get trapped anywhere when being transported
4. Defrost the freezer - ensure there is no liquid or anything left inside. Take this opportunity to give the whole thing a good clean! 
5. Ensure the doors are secured with rope or bungee cord.
6. Package the fridge as best you can, ideally use the original packaging if you have it on the off chance and if not surround it with bubble wrap and cardboard to prevent any scratches. 
7. Be prepared to give assistance to the courier at both the collection point and the delivery location - after all, they can be tricky items to move
8. Fridges have to be transported upright or you can cause damage to them
9. Wait an hour before plugging the fridge back in to let the oil settle back down inside the fridge. 

How to book a courier to transport your fridge?

You will need to weigh and measure the fridge once you have it all packed and ready for the courier.
