Over the past few years, we've seen a dramatic increase in the volume of shipments that could be classed as 'over-sized'. That term isn't an accurate one, though, as any item that the typical household or business needs shipping or transporting can be dealt with. It's just a case of scale and cost.
The general perception of an ordinary parcel is something you can take to the counter and hand over easily. Items that you can just about get to your front door, you often wouldn't want to try and get into your car and try and post yourself. And this is where we come in.
The best way to transport a heavy, bulky item is typical with a specialist courier company such as DX Freight - with whom we have the ability to offer discounted prices. DX Freight comes into their own with oversized parcels and packages, items such as lawnmowers, photocopiers, desks, sofas, tables, headboards, beds and the like.
The DX Freight vehicles have a back loading facility with platforms that can be lowered and raised. This allows them to handle far greater weights and sizes than traditional couriers who often have a small van or a short-wheelbase Transit van at most. Normal couriers also typically don't have trolleys to aid the transportation of the items to your front door either. Also, these couriers are often better for long parcels that can be awkward to deal with.
In conjunction with DX Freight, we offer a '1 man' delivery service. You'll be notified during ordering if your order might require additional hands. This delivery would then necessitate another individual, supplied by yourself to unload, or move the item to your door.
This, unaided service is available for items that are 30kg or less. However, we can transport items up to, and including 500kg that would cost £74.99+vat. If you'd like the same day courier service, then we do offer that service too.
It would be a case of establishing if you would like a next day courier service that can be arranged up to 4 pm for collection the next day, or the same day service that is more expensive, but you can have collection anytime of the day or night and for any day of the week including Saturdays and Sundays.
N.B.: As of November 2013 we no longer accept washing machines, fridges, tumble dryers, washer dryers, fridge freezers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, cookers nor ovens for delivery.
