For shipment going to Brazil, it is important to provide the correct information at the time of booking to ensure the goods are not held or sent back to the UK. If you ship packages to Brazil you must have the customers number, CPF (Casastro de Pessoas) Portuguese for National Persons Register and add it to the booking information in the Tax ID box on our quote engine. If this is not provided, when the package arrives in Brazil, customs will refuse to accept the item.
The closest thing we have to this number in the UK would be your National Insurance Number, so a reference of identity so that customs can see what is being sent and to whom. Every package now sent into Brazil must have this information provided with it. Sending to a Brazilian business will require the CNPJ (Cadastro Nacional de Pessoa Juridica) and these numbers are used to evaluate the amount of duty owed on the item.
If you are not able to provide this number, you should provide the recipient passport number.
If you are sending to a UK citizen, you can provide their passport number instead of the Tax ID number.
Brazil is a thriving market for eCommerce so be sure to collect this information from any buyers in Brazil. As many countries do, Brazil charge customs duty to protect their domestic industries and payment is always due before customs will release the goods. This will reduce the number of items held, returned or destroyed by customs in Brazil.
