Laos, or as the country is more accurately called Lao People's Democratic Republic is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia and shares a border with Burma, China, Vietnam and Cambodia.
Many parcels sent from the UK are bound for Vientiane, where you can actually have your parcel arrive as quickly as 2-3 days if you opt for a Express courier service.
Here are some examples of prices to send a parcel to Laos. We have many options, so for a personalised quote please enter the weight of your item into the quote box below.
Laos has changed "ownership" many times in its long history. It was occupied by the Japanese during the Second World War and then returned to French rule. It became independent in 1953 and then became a socialist state in 1975 after a long civil war. The country isn't prominent on the international stage and trades predominantly with its neighbours - although it does have a growing international tourism market due to its lengthy and interesting history. Eighty per cent of the country's wealth is produced via subsistence agriculture, with another eighty per cent of agriculture being that of growing and harvesting rice.
For a country that has historically shied away from international trade and co-operation and perhaps doesn't have the most up-to-date infrastructure, we expect most parcels sent from the UK to take between two and three working days to arrive at their destination within Laos, when booked with an expedited courier service like DHL Air Express.
Another option for a speedy delivery would be our own Air Express service which is considerably cheaper than DHL, but only takes one day longer typically and is still fully tracked.
The most popular of courier services we offer to Laos is Parcelforce. This down to several factors, first of all the brand which is well known in the UK for reliablity and simple and clear tracking. It is also priced very well, as you can have the parcel collected for free, and delivered in 4-9 working days. Whatsmore, if easier for you, it can be dropped off at your local Post Office, meaning no need to wait at home for the courier.
Just get a quote, choose drop off, print the shipping labels out along with the customs documents which we make available once you book and attach them. It is cheaper to drop a parcel off when shipping to Laos, but a collected service is only a pound or so extra if easier for you.
Customs Information
Information regarding importation restrictions and prohibitions is limited online however we have located some information on a Lao Customs website.
Laos does not have an embassy in the UK, the nearest is in Paris: 74 Avenue Raymond-Poincaro, 75116. Their telephone number is (+33) (1) 4553 0298 and can be emailed on [email protected].

Very speedy delivery considering there was a public holiday. Very happy
Collected and delivered on time. Good tracking and all good.
Great to compare different couriers
It took 2 attempts to collect when a phone call or email with a 2 hour time slot could have prevented it, The first collection failed when I had stayed in all day only to nip out at 14.50 to school and returned 15.12 to find the collection agent had been at 15.02
Service is always really good. My parcel is due to arrive this week I think.
